put down the phone

hope makes things shiny
but it doesn’t make them real
I should know by now

  1. Dear Freckles for Breakfast,
I thought your poem was interesting. The title and the poem brought me a neat set of images.

The phone was believed to bring distance between us when it was invented. People said, Why would anyone want to use the phone when you can just go over to your neighbors or walk down the street to visit and talk with a friend. Phones seem to have become even more shiny since then and may bring feelings and ideas of hope but can also be misleading. I believe dividing and striving to be able to divide the reality of life and one’s inspirations or hopes is something we all strive for.

Thank you for your posts and ideas,
    Sam Sutlive.
